Where to Ring in the New Year if Visiting Toronto This Holiday Season

Blog by Doriana Zohil-Morton, Broker of Record/Owner | December 27th, 2019

New Year’s Eve in Toronto is pretty much like one big citywide extravaganza! Restaurants and bars will stay open later and offer unique holiday-themed specials, the TTC will uphold its tradition of offering free ride services after 7:00 p.m., and the city will be buzzing with locals and tourists attending New Year’s 2020 celebrations!

If you’re wondering where you and your loved ones should ring in the New Year, check out our list of fun events that are taking place throughout the city!

Skate the Night Away at Nathan Phillips Square

Featuring live music, an awesome DJ dance party, and massive skate-a-thons, Toronto’s iconic outdoor skating rink at Nathan Phillips Square is the place to be to watch the New Year’s 2020 countdown on December 31st. Celebrate with thousands of Torontonians as you bask in the glory of the stunning and brightly lit Toronto sign in the background and enjoy the various musical, comedic, and circus performances of the night. If you happen to be renting temporary housing in Toronto, you can take the 501 Queen streetcar to get there. The two closest subway stops are Queen station and Osgoode station.

Spend the Night at the Iconic CN Tower

For over three decades, the CN Tower was the largest freestanding structure and observation deck in the world. Offering a stunning panoramic view of all of Toronto including parts of the GTA, the CN Tower is arguably one of the most recognizable Toronto landmarks. You can truly elevate your New Year’s Eve celebrations atop one of the tallest buildings in the world, tear up the dance floor with your family and friends on the GlassFloor as a talented DJ spins records, and then enjoy some delectable local eats prepared by world-renowned chefs! Keep in mind that this is a 19+ event as alcohol will be served.

New Year’s Eve at Ripley’s Aquarium

After you’re done partying it up at the CN Tower, you can make your way over to Ripley’s Aquarium for some under the sea fun. This is another 19+ event featuring delicious food stations, several cash bars, and live music by The Lonely Hearts and DJ Shamz.

Bravissimo! 2019

Bravissimo! 2019 is a stunningly sensational musical experience featuring world-renowned opera performers accompanied by a full chorus and symphony. Combining the talents of acclaimed opera singers, classical musicians, and an award-winning conductor, this is truly the musical event of the year. Hosted at Toronto’s historic Roy Thomson Hall, you can easily get there by subway. The show ends around 10:00 p.m., giving you plenty of time to make your way over to Nathan Phillips Square to participate in the countdown and watch the fireworks show afterward!
