VISIT SERIES: Rattlesnake Point

Blog by Doriana Zohil-Morton, Broker of Record/Owner | October 16th, 2019

New to Toronto? On a Toronto work assignment and want to see the sights? Visiting Toronto and the GTA? The Greater Toronto Area has some spectacular things to see and do. In our “Visit” series, we will focus on some of the great day-trips to take to get to know your new hometown.

Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area is a little-known eco-tourism area just outside Toronto, in Milton, Ontario. It’s a beautiful spot to visit for a good hike, and even more so in the fall… the views are simply breathtaking! When visiting Toronto, taking a fall day trip to Rattlesnake Point is a MUST. Hikers, bikers, and rock climbers can all enjoy Rattlesnake Point.

Let’s just clear one thing up quickly here… the area was given it’s name because of the snake-like path cut by glaciers along the edges of the Niagara Escarpment. Fear not! It was NOT named due to the snake itself.

Hikers are able to enjoy the area all year round. There are access points to the Bruce Trail in various place for those on foot or bicycles, and there are even connection points to Lake Ontario Waterfront Trail. In the spring and summer months, campgrounds are available for those wishing to hike the area for more than a day.

Rock climbers will appreciate the limestone cliffs, which are fitted with bolts and anchors for rock climbers to use. In fact, there are actually sport climbing routes available along the western edge of the cliffs.
